How did HiQi Healthy Bowel Function Support (Ibistrol) come from a 300 year old Tibetan remedy?

The remedies for digestive health exist in abundance in every culture. Ask my mom, just out of her head, she can tell you a dozen ways to relieve your various stomach problems. However, it is not an easy task to find the remedy that really works for most people, with no side effective and supports long-term health.

I have researched hundreds of different remedies for digestive health. Finally, I find the best remedy ever for digestive health in Tibetan medicine.

According to Tibetan legend, the first human disease is digestive disease. It shows the prevalence of digestive disease and the importance of digestive health to Tibetans. Tibetan diet is much like the North American diet which was heavy with meats and dairy foods. This diet tends to cause more digestive and bowel function disorders such as constipation, diarrhea, cramping, gas, bloating, gastric reflex, abdominal pain and high cholesterol. In the processing of dealing with these health issues, Tibetan has developed some of the most effective natural remedies for these health problems.

More than three hundred years ago, a famous Tibetan doctor, Zhigong-Ciwangdanba, invented a remedy called Xijizhuba. "Xiji" means the diseases will naturally disappear after taking the medicine. "Zhuba" indicates the medicine is composed of six medicinal ingredients.

According to Tibetan medicine, this remedy purges and astringes and uses cold and warm elements simultaneously. It can fight against diseases and help the body reach harmony. The six ingredients work together to enhance stomach and bowel function, improve circulation and energy flow, strengthen bowel movement, balance digestive system, and relieve constipation, stomach pain, gas, acid reflex, bloating. Cramping, spasm and pain, and reduce body fat.

What is the clinical research on HiQi Bowel Function Support?

Ibistrol is used clinically to treat dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, digestive tract ulcer, gastritis, constipation, stomach pain, cramping, bloating, gas, heartburn, acid reflexes, weight loss and high cholesterol levels. The following are the summary of some of the published clinical research on this remedy.

1. Treating Dyspepsia
Functional dyspepsia is a prevalent functional bowel disorder, with symptoms of abdominal distention, fullness feeling, epigastralgia, acid regurgitation, and heartburn.

Hanghe Hospital in Tianjin, China conducted (ref 2) a clinical study on the effect of using Ibistrol to treat dyspepsia. There are total 100 subjects in the clinical study, with 52 patients taking Ibistrol and 48 taking western medicine, three times a day for a month. The efficacy of Ibistrol is 94% and that of western medicine is 52%.

Xuemei Liu at Guangdong Jiangmen Central Hospital conducted (ref 3) a randomized, double blind, placebo controlled human clinical trial of 580 subjects to test the efficacy of Ibistrol for managing functional dyspepsia. In this study, 410 patients are randomly selected in the treatment group taking two capsules of Ibistrol each time, three times a day; 170 patients are in placebo group. After four weeks taking Ibistrol and placebo, 18% of people in the Ibistrol group still have fullness feeling compared to 60% of people in the placebo group have fullness feeling. The percentage of patients with abdominal distention and associated symptoms such as nausea, epigastralgia, heartburn, and acid regurgitation after 4-week treatment of Ibistrol is 23%, compared to 72% for the placebo group. The overall efficacy rate is 92% for the Ibistrol group and 40% for the placebo group.

There are other clinical studies (ref 4, 5) demonstrating that Ibistrol is clinically effective for treating dyspepsia.

2. Treating Constipation
Adjunct Hospital of Gansu Chinese Medicine College conducted (ref 6) a randomized comparison human clinical trial of using Ibistrol to treat senior’s habitual constipation. There are total 72 senior patients in the study. Fifty patients took two capsules of Ibistrol each time, three times a day for one week. The control group takes Maziren pills, a common Chinese herbal remedy, 6 grams each time, twice a day for one week. The efficacy of Ibistrol is 92.3% and that of Maziren is 85%.

Qinghai Tibetan Medicine Hospital conducted (ref 7) a clinical trial with 90 patients taking Ibistrol 3 capsules each time twice a day and 50 patients taking rhubarb tincture 1 gram each time twice a day for one week to treat constipation. The efficacy of Ibistrol group is 86% and that of Rhubarb group is 53%. No side effects are reported by people taking Ibistrol while 50% people taking Rhubarb reported to have stomach pain and cramping.

There are more clinical studies on using Ibistrol to successfully treat constipation and bloating (ref 8, 9, 10).

I find that when people take Ibistrol for constipation, it does not cause diarrhea, cramping, or pain. In fact, it can release those symptoms if they have it. Furthermore, after they take Ibistrol for a while, some people do not need to take it any longer. Ibistrol does not cause dependence and it seems to help improve digestive and bowel function when used over extended time.

3. Treating Bloating and Vomiting with Ibistrol
Guiyang Medical School conducted several clinical trials on using Liuweianxiao capsule to treat bloating (ref 11, 12, 13). They received satisfactory results.

4. Treating Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
Hongchun Zhu and Min Dong at Mudanjiang Medical School conducted (ref 13) clinical trial on using Liuweianxiao capsule to treat GERD and received satisfactory results. Wen Bai used Liuweianxiao Capsule (ref 14) to treat 28 patients with GERD and received satisfactory result.

5. Treating Digestive Track Ulcer
Yujie Liu and Xiaowei Li in Baicheng, Jiling province, used Ibistrol to treat digestive ulcer (ref 15). Forty patients with digestive ulcer take 6 capsules of Ibistrol each time twice a day for 15 days. Thirty nine patients are cured. The efficacy is 97.5%. They also find that the curing effect is lasting.

6. Treating Gastritis
Southwest Ethnic College conducted a clinical randomized comparison study (ref 16) using Ibistrol to treat chronic atrophic gastritis. In the study, 102 patients takes 2 capsules (450 mg/capsule) of Ibistrol 3 times a day and 98 patients taking three different kinds of western medications prescribed for their condition 4 times a day for two weeks. The effective rate of the Ibistrol group is 91.18% while that of comparison group is 83.67%. It is also found that the Ibistrol group can treat atypical hyperplasia extremely well, with 100% success rate, and it has better recovery rate than the comparison group.

A randomized comparison clinical study is conducted of 200 chronic gastritis patients (ref 17). There are130 patients in the Ibistrol group taking Ibistrol and 71 patients in the comparison group taking western medicines for one and half to two month (3-4 treatment period). The effective rate of the Ibistrol group is 92.2%% while the effective rate of comparison group is 77.5%.

7. Treating Stomach Pain
Ping Gu and Qizhi Liu at Nanjing Jianye District Hospital conducted (ref 18) a clinical study comparing the effect of using Ibistrol to treat stomach pain and using western medicine to treat stomach pain. Total 120 patients are in the study, with 80 patients taking Ibistrol two capsules each time three times a day and 40 patients taking western medicine for two weeks. For people taking Ibistrol, 98.72% get relief from stomach pain, 96.77% get relief from fullness feeling, and 98.57% get relief from constipation. For people taking western medicine, 83.78% get relief from stomach pain, 82.76% gets relief from fullness feeling, and 57.14% get relief from constipation.

8. Weight Loss and Lower Cholesterol Levels
Ibistrol is also found very effective for lowering cholesterol levels. There are about quite many studies demonstrating this capability of the Tibetan remedy in Chinese medicine literature (ref 19, 20, 21, 22).

In one clinical study conducted at Adjunt Hospital of Tianjin Chinese Medicine Research Institute, the cholesterol lowering effect of Tibetan remedy is compared with that of Lipitor. In the study, 45 patients took the Tibetan remedy and 45 patients took Lipitorone capsule three times a day. It is found that the efficacy of the Tibetan remedy is 95.6%, while the efficacy of Lipitor is 80%. Patients taking Lipitor reported various side effects, while there were no side effects are reported from patients taking the Tibetan remedy.

Journal of Chinese Ethnic Medicine 1999, 5 (4) reported a clinical study using Ibistrol for weight loss and lowering cholesterol levels. It is found that Ibistrol has lasting effect on weight loss and cholesterol levels.
